Government To Form Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal In 2023

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The government will form the Anti Sexual Harassment Tribunal in 2023, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, announced during the tabling of Budget 2023. 

The establishment of the tribunal is stipulated under the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2021, which was passed in Parliament last July.  

The tribunal’s function is to deliberate sexual harassment complaints, and provide a mechanism for anyone who has been sexually harassed to seek redress.

Additionally, the government announced the formation of gender focal teams in all ministries and government agencies. 

Under Budget 2023, RM8 million will also be allocated to local support centres for early intervention, as well as psychosocial advocacy and counselling for domestic violence survivors.
