Females Form 43% Of Malaysia Covid-19 Deaths

More than half of 32,125 people killed by Covid-19 in Malaysia as of Feb 13 were aged 60 years and older.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 – About 43 per cent of 32,125 people killed by Covid-19 in Malaysia as of February 13 are females. 

Males comprise the majority of fatalities at 57 per cent, according to the Institute for Clinical Research’s National Covid-19 Mortality Review Committee.

The Covid-19 case fatality rate in Malaysia is 1.06 per cent, which means that about one of every 100 people infected by the coronavirus die. 

More than half, or 57 per cent, of Covid-19 victims who died from the virus are aged 60 years and above.

The biggest proportion of Covid-19 fatalities in Malaysia is among the 60 to 79 age group, followed by those aged 40 to 59 at 32.7 per cent, those aged 80 and older (14.3 per cent), and those aged 18 to 39 at 9.5 per cent. 

Infants, children, and teenagers aged below 18 comprise 0.5 per cent of the 32,125 deaths caused by Covid-19.

The vast majority of Covid-19 victims at 77.7 per cent had underlying health conditions before they died from the coronavirus.
