KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — Malaysia’s largest private quaternary hospital, Sunway Medical Centre (SMC), recently marked its 100th robotic spine surgery milestone with the AiBLE Spine Surgical Suite.
Launched in February 2025, the technology represents a new generation of robotic guidance support for spine surgery that delivers precision, consistency and efficiency.
This milestone demonstrates strong clinical interest and reinforces the position of SMC as an early adopter of the AiBLE technology in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia.
Dr Seow Vei Ken, SMC chief executive officer, said that the milestone of the 100th robotic spine surgery reflects the strength, collaboration and technology advancement of the multi-disciplinary team at the Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre.
“With AiBLE integrated with our advanced MRI and CT imaging systems, we have further augmented the tools available for our clinicians to treat complex spinal cases.
“This milestone is a testament to our teams, and we will build on that foundation to continue advancing innovation, clinical excellence and positive patient satisfaction,” said Dr Seow.
The suite is used to support surgical planning and intraoperative navigation for spine procedures.
With this integrated spine solution, surgeons are supported with detailed three-dimensional planning before surgery and real-time guidance during procedures.
AiBLE is alsointended to enable improved accuracy in placing implants, minimally invasive, fewer intraoperative and post-operative complications, and less exposure to radiation.
AiBLE is one of SMC’s efforts in the continuous pursuit of providing enhanced accessto quality spine care for Malaysians.
