Women’s Aid Organisation Announces New Executive Committee Line-Up

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 – Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) has elected its new Executive Committee (EXCO) for the term 2024-2026.

With a focus on championing gender equality and driving impactful change, the new EXCO brings a wealth of experience and dedication towards achieving WAO’s mission.

Reflecting on the challenges of the past months, Sumitha Shaanthinni Kishna, president of WAO, shared: “The past months have tested our resilience like never before. Despite facing unprecedented challenges, we remain steadfast in our resolve to serve and support survivors of gender-based violence.”

Expressing gratitude to the outgoing EXCO and senior members for their steadfast leadership, Sumitha extended appreciation to the dedicated staff and members who continue to drive WAO’s mission forward.

“We recognise the resilience and dedication of our staff and members, whose unwavering commitment is the cornerstone of our work,” Sumitha affirmed.

The newly elected EXCO is poised to lead WAO into a future of growth and impact, with a focus on strengthening organisational capacity, fostering collaborations, and advancing strategic initiatives.

Now in its 41st year, WAO looks ahead to this next chapter of progress and impact, and stands firm in its commitment to ending gender-based violence and promoting gender equality across Malaysia.

The newly elected members of the WAO Executive Committee are:

  • President: Sumitha Shaanthinni Kishna
  • Vice President: Musfiza Mustapa
  • Secretary: Majidah Hashim
  • Assistant Secretary: Shoba Aiyar
  • Treasurer: Divvyananthini Manoharan
  • Assistant Treasurer: Carol Chin
  • Committee Members: Premalatha Govindasamy, Yeow Ai Lin, Lee Jia Ping

As WAO embarks on this exciting new chapter, the organisation looks forward to continued collaboration and support from its partners, stakeholders, and the broader community in advancing its vital mission.
